Pyrrhic Malin

Who Am I?

I wanna rewrite this to make it more organised soon, so for now, I’ll list basics:Hi. Malin. Vegan. Aries (Sun) Leo (Rising) & Aries (Moon) Writer. EII so451 ELVF r/L/u|E|i PVNB EAFS creator (jungian archetype) melphleg. Interests? Likes? Dislikes? Fandoms? Well, then you’d have nothing to learn about me, and that’s no fun.

All my platforms :)

“Book FAQ,” I say, as if I’m anyone notable at all. (I’m not)My pen name is Pyrrhic Malin, and I am a self-published author. I began my first full-length work in progress in 2017, before burnout hit me. It wasn’t until 2021 that I decided to try my hand at writing again, and I wrote the first draft that would evolve to be ‘Yuanfen’s Fox: Remembering Sin.’ I didn’t believe I would even do that. Moral of the story? Don’t believe in yourself. Wait… maybe don’t follow that advice.I burnt out due to other factors in September 2024, but I’m back to working on more projects. Right now, I have one book out. This is the FAQ about my work, in case I one day achieve relevancy (kidding. This is mostly to show people who enquire.)

“How many books have you published?”
One book has been published, “Yuanfen’s Fox: Remembering Sin.” Many are in the works. (3 completed + 5 wrote)
“What’s your record for a first draft?”
11 days. Not for my debut, though. That took 3 weeks.
“When is the next book coming out?”
I don’t know. I hope within the next year, but I’m not in a great place.
“What size are your books?”
My debut is 6 x 9. The proof copy arrived and it’s larger than I expected. I will remedy this for future releases, but yes, my first book is a big boy.
“Are you self published?”
Yes, as of right now, only on Amazon KDP.
“Is your debut book available in paperback and e-book? Or just one?”
Both!
“How much does your book cost?”
The e-book is $5. The paperback is $10. The first 5 chapters of the e-book are available in the preview of the amazon e-book.
“What genre is your book?”
My debut novel, “Yuanfen’s Fox: Remembering Sin” is a caper novel, I’d say. More generally it could fall into the psychological or mystery genre.
“What is the book about?”
To be completely honest, I’d say this book had a bit of an identity crises, and I never fully resolved it. However, I’d say it’s about consequences; how every small action, every curiosity can spiral into something bigger and bigger, until the protagonists are stuck in a situation so absurd and far from where they began that they can’t go back. The second book, TBR, is about rectifying the past, climbing out of that rabbit hole and trying to figure out where you really are.
The protagonists each have very different personalities. The main character is a joyous, optimistic girl who’s a little too trusting. Her best friend, who you could consider the secondary protagonist, is colder, aloof and pessimistic. The other two, however, I’d describe differently. One is love-obsessed, shy and a little entitled. The other is self-centred, apathetic and cruel. The second protagonist essentially forces them into a darker lifestyle. (Though, you could argue they aren’t completely innocent.)The story focuses on the characters going through their day to day lives as they gradually get more intense. It also focuses on love and how people develop different (albeit, twisted in all four cases) ideas of love. There are also elements of the past and how they can affect one’s actions in their current life (though this is something I’ll focus more on in the sequel.)The synopsis I wrote (though I might rewrite it eventually) is: Moira is a youthful, joyous girl with a pretty average life. She wakes up, goes to college, and goes home. 'Home' might not be good, and it may be a little unorthodox, but it's all she has. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to her, there is more than it seems to the 'friends' in her life. Confronted with a lack of choice but to do something horrific, Moira enters a world of darkness. In this story, four friends take a step into a world they weren't prepared for. They begin receiving letters from an unknown figure, only known by a pen name. The letters have no clear origin, and they begin to wonder just what is going on in reality. Will they take a step towards the light, or delve deeper into darkness? Will their crimes catch up to them, or will they continue to live in dark temptation? In this book, discover four maladjusted personalities making their way through their lives.”“Is your book good?”
That’s for you to decide. I’m very self-critical about anything I write.
“I found an issue with your book! Where can I tell you about it?”
Send me an ask on my tumblr blog, @lemonthepotato or add me on discord (sweetpinklem)
“I have criticism about your book, and I want to reach you about it.”
Thank you for showing interest in my work. You can send me a tumblr ask with what you would like improved in the future. :)
“Is YFRS a stand-alone, or will there be a sequel?”
The sequel has been finished for years, but I am not ready to publish it, nor quite done with the process. As of right now, YFRS is a stand-alone. Originally, YF was intended to be a trilogy, but is now planned to be two books.
“Will your future books take place in the same universe as YF?”
Yes, and certain elements will overlap. Even though I don’t plan on continuing YF after the sequel I’m working on, that doesn’t mean that I’ll never revisit certain characters or events. It’s a mystery, for now!
“Why is your book cover… like that?”
A variety of reasons, such as my debut sort of having an… identity crises, as well as the fact I made it myself. I’m not an illustrator, so I won’t even attempt. For now, my covers will be minimalistic. Sorry. I wish I was better at cover design. If it’s any consolation, I have plans to redesign the cover one day and rewrite the blurb. But my main focus right now is the sequel.
“Can you tell us more about yourself?”
Sure. I could. ;)

Hi! I’m Pyrrhic Malin! Actually, for all intents and purposes, this section is less about Pyrrhic Malin and more about… me, the person, so, super casual tone for this section. :)
